Privacy Policy

Effective 26 October 2026

Chat Together is a Windows desktop application that shows Twitch, YouTube and Kick live chat in one window and lets you send messages from the accounts you connect. It runs on your computer. We do not operate any server that receives your account information, sign-in tokens or chat, and the app contains no advertising, analytics or telemetry. This website sets no cookies and uses no tracking.

Chat Together uses YouTube API Services, and connecting YouTube is optional. You sign in on Google's own page, so Chat Together never sees your Google password. It requests one permission, youtube.force-ssl ("See, edit, and permanently delete your YouTube videos, ratings, comments and captions"), because YouTube requires it to post live chat messages. Chat Together uses it only to read your channel's name, ID and handle, to find the live broadcast of the channel you choose and read its live chat, and to post the messages you write. It does not change or delete videos, ratings, comments or captions, and it does not access your email address or other Google account data. Chat Together's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This information is not used for advertising or to train AI models. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Chat Together stores information on your computer only. Your connected accounts (sign-in tokens, account ID and name) are kept in files encrypted with Windows Data Protection for your Windows user account. Your chat history is kept in a local SQLite database: messages from the channels you open, including YouTube live chat messages and the names of the people who wrote them, plus any Chatty or HexChat logs you import. The app also keeps its settings, diagnostic logs for 14 days (without sign-in tokens or chat messages) and cached emote images for up to 60 days. Sign-ins are kept until you disconnect the account. Chat history is kept until you delete it.

We do not receive, sell or share your information. Chat Together connects directly from your computer to Twitch, Google/YouTube and Kick (including Pusher, which runs Kick's chat connection), and sends your sign-in tokens only to the platform that issued them. It downloads emotes from BetterTTV, FrankerFaceZ and 7TV, which receive only the ID of the channel you open. It also checks Chat Together's update server for new versions, sending the app version but no account information. Each of these services can see your IP address and handles data under its own privacy policy.

To disconnect an account, open Stream › Account Connections in Chat Together and choose Disconnect. This revokes Chat Together's access on the platform and deletes the stored sign-in from your computer. You can also revoke access to your Google account at any time in Google's security settings, after which Chat Together can no longer use it. To delete all local data, uninstall Chat Together (uninstalling deliberately keeps your data) and delete the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\ChatTogether. If you moved the chat history database or exported chat, delete those files too. We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing to delete on our side.

If Chat Together's handling of information changes, this policy will be updated before the change is released. For questions or requests, contact [email protected].
